Senior Lawyer – Banking & Finance and Capital Markets

Papanikolopoulou & Partners Law Firm (ppl) is looking to recruit a Senior Lawyer with at least 10 years of experience in Banking & Finance and Capital Markets to join its Financial Transactions team. 

Our team has developed a strong track record in complex financial and capital markets transactions in the Greek market, consistently working on mandates that require technical depth and innovative legal structures.

The role

The successful candidate will be actively involved in complex, high-value transactions, advising financial institutions, funds and corporates, and contributing to the structuring and execution of sophisticated financing arrangements.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting and/or leading transactions end-to-end, from structuring through closing  
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents  
  • Advising on complex financing structures  
  • Participating in negotiations with banks and investors  
  • Supervising junior lawyers  
  • Acting as a key client contact  

Requirements

  • Qualified to practise Greek law  
  • Law degree from a Greek university  
  • Postgraduate degree (LL.M. or equivalent) in a commercial law discipline (including Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate or related fields) 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Banking & Finance and/or Capital Markets  
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills  
  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions  
  • Excellent command of Greek and English  
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a transaction team, including coordinating effectively with colleagues, clients and external advisers

Associate – financial transactions

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on domestic and European law covering primarily the following areas: civil and commercial law, banking law, capital markets regulation, banking and other financial institutions regulations and securitisation regulation.
  • Review and comment on transaction documents.
  • Conducting due diligence and assisting in the drafting of due diligence reports and opinions.
  • Drafting corporate authorisations and similar documents.
  • Support senior lawyers in client consultations, negotiations and document preparations.

Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in law from a Greek law school and a postgraduate degree in banking, capital markets or commercial law, or finance or economics.
  • You have at least 1 year PQE with a Greek or European law firm.
  • You have a strong interest in finance and capital markets law.
  • You are proficient in written and spoken Greek and English.
